ATCAS #160 - Graduation
It's time for a very timely Addicted to CAS Challenge: #160 Graduation.
I know a certain little girl who is graduating from elementary and heading into middle school, a big step. It's amazing and scary how quickly she's growing up. Lord.
Well, she loves monkeys so the MFT BB Picture Perfect image was the perfect choice. The image is colored up using Zig Real Brush markers and framed by the MFT Polaroid Shaker. I used a bit of washi behind the MFT # Captions die for some fun color.
I mounted this on a card front cut with one of the Avery Elle Finished Frames. The sentiment is stamped with Versafine Onyx Black. So so cute for a so so cute young lady!

Color Throwdown #544 Guest Designer
How excited am I to be this week's Color Throwdown Guest Designer?! Bloop bloop bloop! The colors are coral, aqua and navy. So nautical but lots of other possibilities too.
I started my card by diecutting the Lawn Fawn Speech Bubble Backdrop from Poptone Snow Cone cardstock. I adhered it to the card base with Gina K Connect Glue. I then stamped the Sunny Studio Best Fishes critters with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them with Copics.
I sponged the Gina Marie Designs Fan Coral diecut with Distress Oxide Abandoned Coral. The Memory Box Cheerful Crab is diecut from a Brushos leftover.
Once I determined my layout I stamped some Lawn Fawn Critter Chatter Pets sentiments with Distress Oxide Abandoned Coral. I love these!
And, of course, I had to add googly eyes. I adhered these with Ranger Glossy Accents.

Whimsy - Twilight Tree
Any Twilight fans out there? I'm not one but I had to make this retirement card with that in mind. A coworker has retired and they've moved to their vacation home in Forks, WA, where Twilight was based. She's going to get such a kick out of this!
I sponged the card with Distress Oxide Mustard Seed, Blueprint Sketch, Ripe Persimmon, and Wilted Violet. I spattered that with water. Once dry, I stamped the Whimsy Tree Swing image using VersaFine Onyx Black. I used my MISTI in case I needed to repeat-stamp although I didn't.
Isn't the detail on that tree amazing? Wowza!
I'm so glad I have the Whimsy Dracula Bite Me set as it had the perfect sentiment for my twilight pal! That's stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black as well. So simple and tongue-in-cheek!

SOSS #135 - I is for Ironmongery TONI
It's time for the next Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge: I for Ironmongery. Umm, what? That's what I said but it's simply something made of metal, like a garden tool or the Tin Man.
I stamped the images using Memento Tuxedo Black then colored them with Copics. I used a scrap piece of denim and Copic 0 Various Ink to give texture to the Scarecrow's clothing. I diecut the front panel using one of the Honey Bee Deckle Edge Rectangles.
I then figured out where I wanted the speech bubbles to go. Those are typed on my typewriter and use the Lawn Reveal Wheel Speech Bubble Add-on for emphasis. Cracks me up!

Swinging Sloth
How could I resist these adorable Sunny Studio Silly Sloths? Finally a sloth design that I must have in my stash!
I worked up another MFT Interactive Swing design but mixed it up by using Waffle Flower Greenery dies to cover up the mechanism.
It was so simple to do; just think of the possibilities! Like what if you cut the swing shorter and centered it on the card so it could loop completely around, say, the moon. So cool!
I colored up the sloths using Copics and added hair details using Prismacolor Colored Pencils. I used Distress Oxide Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron for the card base and greenery. I used a few HAI Colorful Blossom Confetti for pops of color.

Whimsy - Get Stronger
What perfect timing for the Whimsy May Military Family and Military Dies sets, just in the nick for Memorial Day.
My sister rehabilitates blind/visually impaired veterans so I thought it particularly fitting to make her a series of cards that she can give to them.
The first uses just the Military Family set, where I stamped the flag in Catherine Pooler Something Borrowed and Tutti Frutti and the sentiment in VersaFine Onyx Black. My MISTI was so useful!
The second card uses both the Military Family and Military Dies sets. I've used a leftover piece of Adirondack Alcohol Inked Yupo. Can you see where I had used Alcohol Lift Ink (a few times actually) to lift off a snowflake pattern? Just adds more visual interest in this context, doesn't it?

ATCAS #159 - Horizon
Are you ready for another Addicted to CAS challenge? This time our inspiration word is "Horizon."
I thought it would be fun to play with perspective so stamped the large fox image first before masking and stamping the horizon image. Doesn't the fox look all up in your face? I love the effect! Everything is stamped with Versafine Onyx Black and colored with Zig Realbrush Watercolor Pens.

DB - Wonderful Friend
I love the new MFT release, people! I restrained myself and only got 3 things. Wait, 4 things. Sweetie, if you're reading this, I swear! LOL.
I started the card by choosing the layout based on the current MFT Sketch. With that it was a matter of choosing a couple of the Carta Bella Flora 6x6 papers which I've been dying to use--the background, of course, as well as paper-piecing the MFT Bring Out the Sunshine girl's dress.
Notice how I used an Exacto knife to carefully cut the MFT Bring Out the Sunshine girl's hair and arm so that the dress could tuck right under, like it would in reality? A little something extra I like to do.
Next I colored up the images from the MFT Bring Out the Sunshine and MFT Friends at First Sip sets. They're so so cute! I love the color palette I used based on the Carta Bella paper.
The card background felt a touch plain so I used the MFT Mini Staggered Circles stencil with Distress Oxide Ripe Persimmon and Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Ink on it. Love the effect.
My final step was stamping the MFT Bring Out the Sunshine sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black onto a MFT Dynamics Blueprints 25 diecut.
I'm also entering this in Color Throwdown #452.
Now go and enjoy the rest of your day!

Whimsy - Gnome Birthday Wishes
I'm sure you've been seeing many examples of the new Whimsy May release around. Well, here is my take on the Gnome Matter What set which is killer adorable!
I stamped the Gnome Matter What image using VersaFine Onyx Black on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper.
I then masked it and sponged Distress Oxide Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, Black Soot, Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo on the background. I spattered a bit of water and Copic Opaque white on the upper portion as stars.
I colored up the image using Zig Realbrush Watercolor Pens and added a few speckles with Copics. The final touch was stamping the Gnome Matter What sentiment in Versamark and embossing it with Ranger White Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder. So cute!
