Flippin' Babies

Today I'm featuring a baby card I made for a coworker.  Her nursery theme is woodlands so I used woodland creatures with a gender-neutral palette (she's since had a girl!).

I used the Lawn Fawn Flippin' Awesome dies and Add-On to create a little storybook. I used a variety of coordinating 6x6" papers including Doodlebug Design Spring Things, Doodlebug Design Milk and Cookies, and Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid.

I stamped the Mama Elephant New Family images with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them with Copics. They're sooooo cute!

For each panel I created a unique scene using paper, vellum (to tone down the bright heart paper), and Lawn Fawn Stitched Tree Borders and Simply Grassy Hillsides. This turned out so darling!

Whimsy - Cherries with a Cupcake on Top

It's been a few months since the fall Whimsy Retreat and cherry blossom season is around the corner here so I thought I would post instructions for this make 'n' take that was at the retreat. I hope next time you can come!

A list of supplies you'll need are at the bottom of this post.

1. Stamp the cherries randomly onto the card front and your chosen cupcake onto the 3x3" square
using Versamark.
2. Heat emboss the cherries and cupcake with Ranger White Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder.
3. Watercolor the cherries and cupcake as desired.
4. Once dry, cut out the cupcake using the 2.75" Pierced and Stitched Circle Die. Set aside.

5. Cut out the Birthday Word from the card front approximately 1" from the bottom.
6. Cut out the Birthday Word 3 times from the black cardstock.
7. Using liquid adhesive, glue the birthday words together with the card front one on top. Set aside.
8. Adhere the card front to the card base.
9. Stamp "Happy" above the birthday word cut out using Versafine Onyx Black.
10. Adhere the Birthday diecut stack onto the birthday cut out.
11. Adhere the Cupcake circle above using foam tape.

I'll see you soon with another Whimsy card.  In the meantime, why don't you take a gander at the other goodies in the Whimsy shop and have a great rest of your day!

Whimsy - Rainbow Hugs

I cannot believe February is nearly over--where did the time go? It's almost time for the March Whimsy release but I have one more card to show you from this month's release.

Here I used the Rainbow Words Border to cut out from card front. I then used Zigs to watercolor the individual letters.

I stamped the Graffiti Girl image using VersaFine Onyx Black and colored that up with Zigs too.

Now the fun part! I protected the main image with scrap paper, and lightly spritzed the letters with water so the colors would run down. Cool, huh?!

Whimsy - Summer Friends

Isn't the Whimsy Imogen image the cutest? We have a new designer on board who's been knocking it out of the park these last couple of months. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her work for sure.

I started the card by sponging the card front with a touch of Distress Oxide Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean.

I then stamped the Imogen images using Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them up with Copics.  I added some grass flicks too.

Creating the little scene was fun. Just look at her saying hello to her little butterfly friend. The scene is so summery, I used one of the sentiments from the Ant You Sweet set, stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black.

Whimsy - Boy Birthday

I didn't get the chance to use all of the Christmas goodies I had picked up at the end of last year, did you?  My crafty eyes were waaaay bigger than my crafty plate!

Well, I'm pleased to say I'm using a Christmas goody here. Any guesses? I'll give you a second. . . . If you guessed the paper, you're right!

If you look closely you'll see the balloons are actually ornaments upside down. Yay me for using the Cozy Winter 6x6 Paper! I cut it out with the Wonky Stitched Rectangle Dies, which is quickly becoming one of my go-to dies.

I paired the balloons with the new Goth Doll Boy set, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics.  The sentiment is stamped with Stazon as the paper is a little glossy and I didn't want the ink the smear.

I added a few sequins and Ranger Glossy Accents to the eyes.  So fun!

I hope this card inspires you to look at your supplies with fresh eyes. In the meantime, why don't you take a look at the goodies in the Whimsy shop.

See you soon!

Whimsy - Miso

Only 6 more sleeps until Valentine's day and even less if you're mailing them out--eek!

With this card, I've paired the new Connected Oval Frame along with last month's Valentine Puns and Starring Hearts 6x6 Paper.

That swirly frame goes so well with the Wonky Stitched Rectangle Die I used to cut out the card front, don't you think?

I had cut it out of pink then decided to cut it out in kraft as well.  To be honest I was surprised at how much I liked that center panel being cut from kraft. Never be afraid to try an idea!

I'll have another Whimsy card for you next week.  In the meantime, why don't you check out the Whimsy shop.
