BRI - Little Talks

It's another Butterfly Reflections Ink Monday and I'm celebrating tropical style with a colorful parrot worked up from the bluebird found in Honey Bee Lovely Layers Spring Birds.  Yes, I said bluebird.  The only thing I altered was trimming the beak to make it more parrot-rounded rather than bluebird-stabby.

I used the Lawn Fawn Tropical Leaves Backdrop adhered and trimmed down with a Waffle Flower Nesting Rounded Rectangle Die. I sponged the leaves with Catherine Pooler inks which are so so vibrant.  

The sentiment is from Waffle Flower Coffee Shop Talk because, duh, parrot--"little talks."  LOL.  I love puns, good or bad, so much!

Whimsy F1 - Ahoy, Matey!

Ahoy, matey!  I'm sharing a card using the Whimsy Stamps February release today.  The Arrgg Pirates set is so cute and it paired perfectly with the Peekaboo Windows 3 die.

I colored up the images using Copics (you'll see pics of the ones I used down below). I used vibrant boy colors thinking I will send this to one of my nephews, if my cat will allow me to part with it. LOL! He was so curious about this particular card for some reason.

Anyway, I added lots of dots to the Arrgg Pirates critters to give them a bit of visual texture. Adding those little details makes them come more to life. I also masked and stenciled some clouds behind them to break up all that white. 

And can you see the depth created by just popping up the Peekaboo Windows 3 diecut?  It's so cool that apertures allow for multiple things to go on in a visually controlled fashion.

The sentiments were stamped after I had adhered the diecut but the ship I masked, stamped and colored beforehand since it's much larger than the aperture. I love all the detail this ship has and will definitely use it full size in the future.

Cards in Envy On the Beach

Time for a new Cards in Envy Challenge!  This time we'd like to see anything related to the beach. Man, I wish I were on one. Heck, even near a nice one would do me. LOL.

For my cards I watercolored the background quickly with Zig markers.  While that was drying, I created a sandy white beach and colored up the other elements of the scene. I really love the look of the palm tree. The coconuts are enamel dots colored with Copics.

• Stamp the Sending Sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black
• Emboss the panel
• Diecut the same panel using the Fancy Frame Die
• Brush the smaller panel lightly with Distress Oxide
• Adhere the smaller panel to the main panel
• Diecut, color and adhere the Nested Hearts Dies
• Diecut, trim and adhere the Wishing Die
• Adhere the adorable Crabby Critter image
