ATCAS #167 - Pink and Purple

The latest Addicted to CAS inspiration words are "Pink and Purple." I challenged myself to use Copic colors I don't normally to work up this sympathy card. Happy sigh.

Read more about this card and the other I made from it in a couple of weeks on the Doodlebugs Blog. Yeah, there might have been a bit of unfortunate inky fingers action after I took this photo. :*(

Whimsy - Jack in the Box

Boo! My Whimsy cards earlier this month got me in the mood for Halloween so I thought I would pair up Creepy Clowns with the August release Wonky Windows 2.

I used the Camouflage Background along with Distress Oxide Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed to create my own background paper for the card front. I then cut out the Wonky Windows 2 die using Pebbles Midnight Haunting 6x6 Paper.

I stamped the main sentiment on vellum using Versamark and heat embossed with black embossing powder.

I stamped out the Creepy Clowns with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them up with Copics. I used baby colors for the banner and box but went creepier with the clown.

I adhered the various images to the card front using liquid adhesive. Notice how the banner sticks up a bit? I glue the ends of the banner closer together to create an arc. The head of the clown is popped up too, using foam tape.

Whimsy - Goth Princess

Now this was a FUN Whimsy card to make using the new Goth Girl set. I love getting messy! With gloves on.  Duh.

I used Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock for the base and randomly smeared on Distress Ink Candied Apple, Seedless Preserves, Wilted Violet and Distress Oxide Weathered Wood. I then stamped the Goth Skulls Background using VersaFine Onyx Black.

I wanted a bit more texture so I used the Whimsy Halloween Creatures stencil with PaperArtsy Grunge Paste. Once dry, I rubbed on a bit of the Distress Oxides.  Not tooooo creepy.

Next I stamped the Goth Girl image using Memento Tuxedo Black and colored her up using Copics.

I thought the background still lacked a bit of something so I stamped one of the Goth Girl sentiments randomly over the card base using Versamark and Ranger White Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder. I also stamped some of the Cute but Psycho spatters using VersaFine Onyx Black.

For the main card sentiment, I stamped it using Versamark and Ranger White Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder onto a strip of scrap black cardstock and cut it up. I mounted "freak" and the goth girl image on foam tape. Gotta make sure the important stuff is obvious!

Whimsy - Finding Emo

OMG, this is so true for me.  Apparently I am a closet emo. LOL. My card features the Whimsy August release Goth Star set. I love the look on his face.  What...evah.  LOL.

I cut out some Halloween paper for the background and left everything monochrome but for the splashes of red. I added the new Gothic Dies with the wings and heart. Oh, and the halo!

Now I have a fun and snarky Valentine card! Will I remember that I have it come Valentine's Day 2020?  Not taking any bets on this one!

Whimsy - Bats

I'm batty over the new Whimsy August release set Going Batty.  Bats are so often portrayed as ugly and creepy but in real life, they can be quite cute. Not purr purr baby kitty cute, but cute. These Going Batty images fall into the cute category for sure.

To create the background of my card, I used VersaFine Onyx Black to stamp Lots of Dots that is available in the August kit or as a single stamp in September. I then masked the background and sponged the negative space with Distress Oxide Carved Pumpkin and Mustard Seed.

I used a white pigment pen to add dots to the dots. They remind me of eyeballs. I also stamped the Going Batty sentiment in VersaFine Onyx Black.

I stamped the Going Batty images with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them with Copics. I used the same Copics for each bat but used different ones for the shading.

Once I figured out the layout for the bats, I glued down a handful of googly eyes to some of the eyeball dots on the card front. I then glue down the bats. Don't they look happy to see me? :)

I love the googly eyes too. They push the card even more toward the cute not creepy spectrum.
