Awesome Fish Flipper

I told you I couldn't get enough of the LF Flippin' Awesome dies! I used LF Christmas Fishes and LF You Are Sublime to create a cutie patootie underwater Christmas.

I colored up everything using Copics.  I created the water using Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers and Visible Image Fibres stencil. I went right over the colored images rather than spending the time masking--more realistic that way. For being a cartoon.

I love that the larger critters of the LF Christmas Fishes set can have different expressions. The jellyfish is all smiles and the crab a couple of panels over is all kisses.

And I love that combining the two sets allowed me to interchange critters and vegetation without worrying about a size differential.

I just noticed that the waves flow from one scene to the other--total kismet!

Whimsy - Wintry Scene

I'm on the Whimsy Blog today sharing a peaceful winter scene. So dreamy!

Little Red Truck

I love the visual simplicity of white cards for the holidays. Usually my pop of color is a little cardinal or deer but I couldn't resist this Penny Black Vintage Truck. Using it now with a Christmas tree but imagine it with a bunch of animals popping up out of the back.  Plus a driver. Ack!

I used the Sugarpea Design Log Cabin Mountainscape and Lawn Fawn Stitched Tree Border for the white layers, adding a touch of  Distress Oxide Weathered Wood behind each.

Bunny and Bird Meadow

Another winter scene using Stacey Yacula--Purple Onion Designs as well as MFT.

This one was easier to color with all the open space snow. Plus masking was easier--just the large tree since I cut out the bunny.

Watercolor again too plus glitter snow and Enamel Accents cranberries. Can you tell I hadn't cleaned up my workspace so just use what was at hand?

Woodland Christmas Friends

I must say I've been rather obsessed with creating holiday scenes lately. This one combines a Stacey Yacula birch background from Purple Onion Designs with Sunny Studio Scenic Route and MFT Merry Wishes.

I water colored everything with Zigs. It took a while but was so worth it. Do you recognize the squirrel?  He's from MFT Piles of Fun.

I love the glitter snow and the Enamel Accents dotted cranberries. Strangely they appear to be matte finish here but are actually glossy. Oh, yes, you can see that in the second pic.

Merry Christmouse

My friend, Lenae, introduced me to the Lawn Fawn Flippin' Awesome interactive dies when I saw her in October. She said it was super easy and one of her favorite interactive sets.  I totally get why now!

The mechanism itself is one piece that you fold along the score lines, attach your individual panels, and then attach the lot to the card base. That's it.

It took me longer to figure out what cute image and paper I was going to use than it did to assemble. Seriously. Watch the LF video, starting at around minute 2:30, for instructions.

The coloring took me a bit of time but that's because I colored the whole pull out tab panel. I added Enamel Accents to the lights and to the cheese tree.  Cheese tree--tee hee.

You can check out my Instagram for a video of this card in action. It's super fun to make and super fun to flip. I have to say my partner is really intrigued by the mechanism on this one but I plan to keep it my little secret. LOL.

Whimsy - Up on the Housetop

Do you remember the song "Up on the house top, something something something" from childhood? I apparently don't remember much about it but I do remember the housetop and reindeer!

I stamped the Whimsy Santa and Stockings image with Memento Tuxedo Black, drew a line to demarcate the sky from the roof and went to town with Copics.

I diecut the colored panel with a Wavy Edger and used clear Wink of Stella to make the snow look icy.

The card base is stamped with the Shiplap Background in Distress Oxide Vintage Photo.

Once the card front was assembled I spattered Copic Opaque White for snow.
