I don't often play along with sketches and because of that, I think, I don't feel as comfortable with them.  That's not a bad thing.  It just means when I play along, I have to stretch myself and that's a great thing!

CAS on Friday #312 - Botanical

Don't you love two-for-one cards?  Maybe you can do the same for the CAS on Friday #312 Botanical Challenge.

I cut out the PFS Floral Harmony Die from a smooshed watercolor panel then again in white.  I combined the two to create a simple thank you card then used the leftovers along with a scrap gold-foiled panel for a birthday card.  

The starburst background was an experiment using a hot foil plate and my replacement impression mat.  Did you know an impression mat can get sucked up inside your Big Shot?  Well, you do now and that's why I have a new one!  LOL.

Foiled Snowflakes Cards

I've joined the CASE IT Instagram Hop where each month we choose a project we were inspired by on IG and make it our own.  Cool concept, right?  Feel free to hop along and read more.  

I got out my solid hot foil plate so I could reverse hot foil and do some experiments at the same time.  This first one used Hammermill 100.  I was disappointed in the splotchy coverage on the bottom half.

This next one used Hammermill 100lb again but with a shim.  Meh.  I did wonder at this point if the age of the hot foil matters.

And finally I got out some glossy photo paper, the kind that came with a printer back in the day.  This gave the best result of all.  So now I'm wondering if when you run it through on regular paper, does some of that paper adhere to the hot foil even tho you can't really see it?  Does it interefere with adhesion to a new piece of paper?  Only more experiments will tell!
