Whimsy - Birdhouse

Any They Might Be Giants fans out there?  Then you'll totally get this.  It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the new Whimsy Build a Garden dies and then had that song in my head all day. LOL.

The background die is new too:  Wavy Stitched Squares.  So whimsical and cute!  Everything is cut from Doodlebug Designs French Kiss 6x6 paper.

A little reminder that the Whimsy Challenge this month is "April showers bring May flowers." The challenge closes on May 3 at midnight EST, and there's a $20 prize. Hope to see you play along!

Whimsy - Stacked Birds

Aren't these birdies from the new Whimsy Baby Chick Totem set super cute? I love how they're so silly and the expressions on their faces. I've wondered what it would be like to be part of a human pyramid--I assume horribly uncomfortable (and unsanitary--that's a lot of feets next to faces--eww!). LOL.

I stamped the totem with VersaFine Onyx Black and colored them with Zig Realbrush Watercolor Markers. I then cut out the card front using a heart cover plate. The card front is mounted on MFT paper.  I intend to use this as one of my Easter cards.  Easter but not too, you know.

ATCAS #157 - Humor

Well, what do you know.  It's time for another Addicted to CAS challenge!  Do you need a little caffeine to get those idea wheels turning?   Maybe you should take a page out of her book and have four cups at once.  Yikes!

A really simple card here done with Zigs.  For the background I impressed the MB die then used it as a guide for creating a background.  Cool, huh?

Whimsy - Wizard Wish

Oh, goodness!  I LOVE these wizards from the Whimsy February release Create Magic, not to mention the coordinating Wizard Frame and Once Upon a Star dies! Swoon!

With my first card, I stamped the Create Magic image and Wizard Frame with VersaFine Onyx Black. I then watercolored using Zig Realbrush Markers. I masked off the central portion of the image and spattered the card front using the same Zig colors. I added a few sparkly enamel dots too. I finished the card by stamping the Create Magic sentiment with VersaFine Onyx Black onto one of the Quick Strips banners.

More Details:
Zig Watercolor Pens (092, 200, 082, 032, 052, 072, 080)
Distress Oxide Blueprint Sketch, Mustard Seed and Seedless Preserves

I got a bit messier with this next card by sponging a galaxy onto the card base using Distress Oxides. I spattered that with both water and Copic Opaque White for stars. You totally can't see it well in the photo but I used shimmer spray on the galaxy so it's really dreamy and sparkly.

Next I stamped the Create Magic image with VersaFine Onyx Black and colored it with Zig Realbrush markers. Once that was dry, I die cut the card front using a couple of the Once Upon a Star dies. I watercolored the smaller stars and added those to the front as well.

Notice the glitter behind the stars at the top?  I used glitter on Scor-Tape but you could easily use Wink of Stella.

Don't you agree the new release is absolutely magical?!

Whimsy - Bunny Sunshine

Are you fans of Winnie the Pooh? That is what I was reminded of with the illustration style of the new Whimsy Bunny Buddies set. So precious!  I decided to create a soft scene inspired by that style.

I used Zig watercolor markers and free-handed most of the background except for the clouds. It occurred to me I could use the Up in the Clouds dies to act as masks. Worked a treat! It was so helpful in creating cloud layers, let me tell ya.

Whimsy - Ruff Day

Woof! Woof!  The April Whimsy release is here and I'm here to shout it out to the world! Except I'm wearing a cone and it's all your fault. :(

LOL.  I love this pup from the Cone of Shame set. Just look at his face! Enough said!

I stamped the Cone of Shame image and sentiment with VersaFine Onyx Black onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper.  Everything is colored with Zig Realbrush Markers.  I was really hesitant about adding the freehand tree as I really liked how the dog & house image turned out but decided to just bite the bullet. Whew!  Turned out better than I was hoping!

That red is so swoon-worthy! But still, my favorite part of the card is the dog's expression!
