Whimsy F5 - Floral Friend

It seems like I haven't worked with florals in forever and a day so I was really excited to see the Spiral Roses background stamp. I knew immediately I wanted to use watercolor  after heat embossing using Ranger White Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder and Versamark.

The heat embossing not only helps me keep my watercoloring within the lines but also creates fabulous shiny edges.  Who doesn't like a bit of shine?

I thought it would be cool to use the negative of the Friend die so that the flowers would create the color.  Most of the floral front is used but the white panel helps tone it down some.  Wow!

SOSS #129 - D is for Diet

It's time for a new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge:  D is for Diet.

I know, I know. I hate that word too. The Brutus Monroe deer's face says it all for me. I wish I were that cute; instead, I'm just big-boned (wink, wink).  I have nothing against big-hooved if you're genetically-inclined that way. LOL.

I colored up the deer with the below Copics. That E49 really helped define the roundness. The Hero Arts alpha dies are cut from both Doodlebug paper (Notice the treats?  I know you did.) and black. I printed the other sentiment with my label printer.

The Details:  Brutus Monroe Oh Deer, Hero Arts Luggage Tag Alphabet, Doodlebug Design Cream and Sugar 6x6 Paper, Honey Bee Deckled Edge Rectangles, Distress Oxide Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio, Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Multi Medium Matte, Copics

Whimsy F4 - Smile

Isn't this just the sweetest image from the Whimsy Stamps February release?

I stamped Angel Nevaeh using VersaFine Onyx Black onto a piece of diecut mixed media cardstock and colored her up with Zig watercolor markers.   You can see I added lots of Wink of Stella to the wings and stars. Duh! So pretty!

Lastly I die cut the Smile die and adhered it to the bottom of the front panel. Now check out the store image below and compare it to how I colored mine. I'm especially struck by how different the stamp looks to me with different colored hair. Cool!

ATCAS #153 - Grid

The inspiration word over at the latest Addicted to CAS challenge is "Grid." Come join us!

For my card, I created a grid by masking and sponging a stencil using Distress Oxides. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love grids and apertures. Look how much I could stuff into that little scene.  So cute!  I also like the colorway I chose. It's more muted than my usual but certainly brings to mind winter!

Whimsy F3 - Spay & Neuter Everybody

Ack! I love the February Whimsy Stamps release set Don't Shop Dogs (there's a cat version too)!

It's an issue close to my heart so I have taken abandoned cats in my neighborhood to the Feral Cat Project where I live to get neutered and a full medical workup. I do wish people would take responsibility for their pets. Maybe those who don't should be spayed and neutered too like the card says. LOL!

For my card, I stamped and masked the dogs before stamping the girl from the Cute but Psycho set so she would appear behind them. You know, lurking, like the creepy relative she is! I used Memento Tuxedo Black which is my favorite ink to use with Copics.

I will admit I checked out pics online to be able to color the dogs such that the breed is recognizable. I hope they are anyway! So many cute dogs out there but I'll stick to cats, thank you very much. :)

SOSS #128 - K is for Kitties

Guess what?!  Time for a new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge.  It's all about the kittehs!

My card started out with one of my Gelli prints that I thought fit the rather Victorian and imperious look of puss puss. He's a bit of a snobby grump so I naturally had to use the Dylusions sentiment. Indeed! (That's printed with my label maker, btw.)

He's so like one of my cats. He wants love 24-7 cat time. LOL.

The Details:  The Cat's Pajamas What the Froth, Ranger Dylusions People . . . Not a Fan, TCW Numbers Stencil, Liquitex Acrylic Paints, Honey Bee Deckle Edge Rectangle Die, Copics, Memento Tuxedo Black

Snail Mail

A couple of weekends ago I got to hang out with some fab crafters and we had so much fun! I was able to play with this cute set, newly released by Trinity Stamps.  Is it not super cute?!

I stamped the scene directly off the acetate with a bit of masking. I used Memento Tuxedo Black for that. Then I used a stencil and a couple of colors of Distress Oxide to do the clouds. I used another shade or two of Distress Oxides to blend in the grass. I didn't bother masking since a little action with a simple eraser will remove most of the DO from any parts you don't want it. (Neat, right?!)

I finally colored up the image using the below Copics. Voila--Valentine card!

The Details: Trinity Stamps Mr. Snailman, MFT Mini Cloud Border Stencil, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, Distress Oxides

Cards in Envy Sketch Challenge

Oh, goodness.  Well, sad to report this is the last Cards in Envy Challenge.  Aren't you bummed?  I certainly am as it's one that I've enjoyed as a player as well as a DT member.  CIE will be missed for sure!

For the last challenge we're going back to the first challenge which was a sketch.

I used the skating pond for the rectangle going across the card and the two girls and bird for the 3 circles. I love that they're holding hands.  So cute!  The pink glitter is actual glitter cardstock; the white is Scor-Tape covered in glitter. The girls are colored with Copics with lots of paper-piecing for their outfits. The sentiment is stamped with Stazon directly onto the glitter. I love how it's subtle but still legible.

The Details:  Hello Bluebird Skating Together and Skating Pond Scene Die, Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Rainbow 6x6 Paper, Pebbles Cozy and Bright 6x6 Paper, Scor-Tape, Doodlebug Design Lily White Glitter, Ranger Multi Medium Matte, Memento Tuxedo Black, Stazon Jet Black, Copics

ATCAS #152 - Birds

Are you ready for a new Addicted to CAS Challenge? I am!  The inspiration word is "Birds."

Given that it's winter, I chose to feature a penguin.  They're so very waddly cute. I used Zig watercolor markers again and practiced shading with the black. I'm very pleased with how that turned out.  I'm also using my favorite Persian Blue. Dreamy.  Notice I sponged the back edge of the diecut hill with Distress Oxide to delineate it from the card base. I also drew in some movement lines. Sled fast or go home!

The Details:  Stacey Yacula Studio Sled, Hello Bluebird Skating Party, Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders, Copic Multiliner, Zig Watercolor Markers, Versafine Onyx Black
