Mice Friend

Playing with one of my new CCD sets. The country girl in me is peeking out!

Notables notes for this card:
  1. I used a stencil and Distress Oxide Ink to create the subtle shading on the skirt.
  2. I used a Sakura white gel pen for the dots on the apron.
  3. I mottled the scarecrow's face using a tiny sponge and Copic 0 various ink
  4. The subtle green at the bottom of the circle reminds me of Autumn so much as the colors of summer leach away.

Why, Hello, Birdie

These little birds are stuffing themselves silly in preparation for winter--just like me! Love the fall images in the THD challenge board. My favorite time of year is Autumn so you'll be seeing lots of that from me!

I stamped the image on watercolor paper but forgot I was doing that and used Memento which bleeds with water.  Poo! My Copics worked wonderfully on this paper tho so no worries.  I think it has a good tooth for colored pencils too but who has time to experiement with that?

I'm entering this in Simon Says Wednesday CAS, Addicted to Stamps and More 259 CAS, SIP 116 CAS Fall, CAS on Friday 116 Color Me Pretty (Use Pencils or Markers)

Halloween Hello

I loved the colors featured in Sunday Stamps 161 Color Rainbow and am so glad I was able to fit them into a current project.

Fav things about this project:
  1. Love the stitched swirl on the two layers.
  2. I used purple and like the outcome.
  3. That broom kicks coloring ass.
  4. Spattering water on a sponged background looks cool even partially hidden.

THD Challenge 16

Time for a new challenge at The Heart Desires and ever so perfect for the season. Don't know about you but I am SO ready for fall, my favorite time of year!

I smooshed some Distress Oxides and Inks to create the changing colors of the leaf.  I could have easily used Brushos. Next time! I cut the leaf out of both kraft and the smooshed panel then pieced it all together. Of course, the cat got to part of the little bits so using the rest for a second leaf didn't go as planned. Instead I used a vibrant apple green impressed with the die. I don't know why my camera doesn't like that color. It's much more like the color in the inspiration pic. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Vintage Sepia. I love using that color, especially in Autumn!

Cards in Envy Cheers to You!

We're kicking off the Cards in Envy September challenge with a fun one!  Come join us in making a celebration card of some sort.  Easy peasy!

I've been playing around with ombre coloring these past few weeks so went super bright with the ombre in this one.  BRIGHT yellow transitioning down to a deeeeeeep pink.  On fire for sure! A few layers of sponged clouds with a stitched whirl--oh, yes! Lots of details but ever so CAS!

Guesting for the Sisterhood

I'm guesting for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers--woo hoo!  Challenge #92 is J for Jumble. Think collage, mixing up a bunch of images, supplies, etc.  Very fun!

Now if this card doesn't make you chuckle AND cringe, then nothing will! LOL. I started out stamping the mutt then put down a Distress Crayon yellow focal point and a blue ground. I added a brick stencil using Distress Ink. What an easy way to create shadow and depth. Next I colored the mutt using Copics which performed beautifully on the Strathmore mixed media paper.

The string gel guts, colored with a bit of acrylic paint, turned out perfectly in the pouring (used a q-tip with the tip broken off) but I wanted to keep working on the card rather than waiting for it to dry. Leaf on the guts? Covers fingerprint. Swirls? More fingerprint covering.  All turned out fine tho.

I used a branch die to create ivy and layered another die on top of that for the ivy leaves. That's about as collagey as I get! I did layer the sentiment although my CAS self wanted to stamp it directly on the background. The things I'm willing to do when I'm guesting!
