SOSS - Lindsey's Legacy Hop

Today, we are hopping in memory of our dear friend and fellow cardmaker, Lindsey Martin-Penny, who sadly passed away last year from a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Lindsey’s husband, Burke, thought it would be a great time to sell off her many craft supplies, with all of the proceeds going towards Lindsey’s Legacy Fund for Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer Research in cooperation with The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

The purpose of this hop is to honour Lindsey, celebrate her life and all that she loved, as well as help spread the word to raise funds for clear cell ovarian cancer research.  You can help in one of several ways!

For my card I created a tropical scene with the cocktails acting as a setting sun.  I had sponged vellum then used a clear embossing powder to make it shiny (and annoying bumpy) before adhering it to the cocktail glass diecuts. The sentiment and umbrellas are cut from glitter cardstock and the umbrella frame from the cover of one of my Strathmore Bristol pads which is a gloriously bright yellow.

Cheers, Lindsey!  I hope you're enjoying the next stage of your existence.  You are missed.

  2. I think this design is so clever! I really love it all....even the bumpies. You might try a double coat of powder if it really bothers you...sometimes it evens out the texture, but in this case, I think it's perfect.
