SOSS #126 - B is for Books

Ready for our first Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge of 2019?! The inspiration word is "books." Maybe you've got a favorite book, quote, movie based on a book (don't you dare!), or some such. And remember that snark is optional although we love it.

Now I'm an avid reader and have been since I was a child.  I can remember sneaking books from elementary school so I could read them at home.  I guess this was before we were allowed to check them out from the library? Anyway, my love of books is intense and one of  my absolute favorite activities.  Grab a book, or my Kindle nowadays, a throw, a cat and I'm good to go for hours. Reality can suck it.

Whimsy J2 - Out of This World

Ready to blast off with me and Whimsy Stamps?!

I've used WS A Boy's Dream and the Wonky Window Die from the new January release to create a super cute mixed media appreciation card.  I cut the Wonky Windows twice: once in black and once from an acrylic pull panel that I had embossed using Dreamweaver Glossy White Embossing Paste and the WS Speckled Hearts Stencil.  Isn't that shine fantastic?

I sponged the base lavender panel with Distress Oxide to create a bit of an ombre pattern before embossing sentiments from A Boy's Dream. I used Ranger Super Fine Detail White Embossing Powder which is my absolute fav. Be sure if you're using it over Oxides, you allow the Oxides to dry so the powder doesn't stick to it.  Been there, done that!

I used the below Copics to color up the images before adhering them. I love this combo, don't you?!

Cards in Envy Numbers

Well, the holidays are over and now we can all get back to our regularly scheduled crafting. Whew!  Over at Cards in Envy, we'd like to see numbers on your card.

My BIL is turning 60 so I worked this up for him.  60 seemed sooooo old when I was younger but time passes so quickly now it seems like it's right around the corner.  Dude. He's old. But I really am glad he's not dead. Love you, Steve!

ATCAS #150 - Snowflake

Today marks my first post as a member of the Addicted to CAS design team!  Yay!  The current challenge's inspiration word is "Snowflake." How very perfect for the season. I hope you join us!

I worked up a very simple and elegant card by using a diecut snowflake that I sponged on the back with Distress Oxide Broken China to create a bit of a shadow when I popped it up.  The sentiment is in the same blue.

Whimsy J1 - Graphic Thanks

I am so excited to be posting my first card as a new member of the Whimsy Stamps DT. Woo hoo!  I really surprised myself with this card; it's outside my comfort zone and certainly not my usual style but I love it!

I used the WS Quick Strips and a bunch of scraps of cardstock (yay to reducing that mega pile!) to create a bright and colorful background. Imagine all the possibilities--patterned paper, white on white, metallics--the list doesn't end!

I then die cut the Thanks die in gold and the border die in black. I love how it pops against the rest of the card.  And notice how I had placed a strip of black behind it? I think that helps draw attention to it as well.
