CDD June Release Day 3

We are on day 3 of the CDD June release and featuring the CDD Mermanimal set. Lots of nautical goodness coming your way for sure!  Everything will be available this Friday, June 15, so best start your wish lists so you can grab your favorites before they're sold out.

My first card features a sentiment from the upcoming CDD Mermanimal set. I love that font and the splash marks which pair perfeclty with the Mermaid Tail Die.

The Details:  CDD Mermanimal, Mermaid Tail Dies, Ranger Multi Medium Matte, VersaFine Onyx Black, Ken Oliver Color Burst Splash 6x6 Paper

Next I was inspired to create a card featuring the siren monkey from the CDD Mermanimal set. Sirens were mythological creatures, often portrayed now as mermaids, that would sing and lure sailors to their deaths. Yeah, not exactly a fun idea but perfect for a cute card!  I took a sheet of music and sponged Distress Oxides right over the top then spattered with water. I then made some waves (ha!) and rocks for the siren to perch on as she sings. The sentiment is so punny to me in this case:  "hey there, cutie, come on over here and be my lunch."  LOL

The Details:  CDD Mermanimal, Friend in Me, Outdoor Landscape 2 Dies, Scenery Dies, Fancy Frames Dies, Ocean Border Dies, and Island Dies, Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder, Distress Oxide Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, and Squeezed Lemonade, Copics

Hay There

Still in a farm mood after playing at CASology Farm.  I wanted to play around with moving the aperture of the LF Reveal Die--totally did it then screwed it up (did you know glue can be really sticky?).  Went back to the basics after that.

The Details:  Hello Bluebird Farmyard Little Bits, Lawn Fawn Reveal Wheel Die and Sentiment Banner, MFT Rolling Hills Die, Mini Cloud Edges, and Tiny Check 6x6 Paper, Doodlebug Design Down on the Farm 6x6 Paper, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics,

Happy Summer

Even tho this weekend has been gloomy, there's still plenty of sunshine in my head.

I started with the ombre background that I then diecut with my new LF polka dot backdrop. I add Scor-tape and burnished glitter into the dots so it's all sorts of sparkly.  Next I stenciled yellow clouds onto a panel and diecut it with sun rays.  I love the effect.

I grounded the couple using sand and waves (I think this is the first time I've used this die which I got last year--eek). The boy is my stepson and his girlfriend. Aren't they cute together?  In real life too!  LOL.

I’m entering this in Just Add Ink 412 Spots, Splatters, Speckles

Farm Friendship

I saw over at CASology that the current challenge #303 cue is "farm." I'm a former farm girl so had to play along with my new Hello Bluebird Farmyard stamps.  I created an ombre farmyard with sun shining down on those cute friends.  And it's one layer.  Talk about mega-CAS!

The Details:  Hello Bluebird Farmyard Little Bits, Echo Park Diagonal Buffalo Plaid Stencil, MFT Sunrise Radiating Rays Stencil, Distress Oxide Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, and Squeezed Lemonade, Copics

Cat's Birthday

I'll be posting a card next week that uses the negatives of this card front.  Can't let a perfectly good scrap go to waste, now can I.

My nephew's birthday is coming up and he's at the age where cute is still okay but not TOO cute.  You totally know what I mean.  I had the idea of having it appear that we're the fish looking at the cats looking at us in our aquarium. I particularly love the cat with the monocle peering in for a closer look. I think the coral I used is fantastic but visually busier than anticipated so I kept the sea creatures white.  Plus, I was tired of coloring.  Too many cats! Oh, yes, this cat lady said it!

I'm entering this in The Male Room #87 Little Boys

The Details:  Mama Elephant Cat's Meow, Newton's Nook Shark Bites (sentiment), Lawn Fawn Porthole Frames, Taylored Expressions Build a Scene Underwater, Memory Box Curious Octopi, Twisting Tentacle and Small Alder Tree, Copics, Ranger Multi Medium Matte, Transparency Acetate, Distress Oxide Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers

I finally found a bit of time this weekend to play with some of my new goodies.  I have to say the LF Reveal Wheel set is brilliant. They have thought of everything to make it easy to use with a really helpful video to boot.  You'll definitely be seeing more of these in my future.

CDD June Mood Board 1

There's still plenty of time to join us for the CDD June Moodboard.  You can enter by joining the event in the CDD Gallery or tagging #cddmonthly.

For my card I used the CDD Friendship set paired with a sentiment from Far Out. Super cute, right?! To create the focal point I used Outdoor Landscape 2 and Stitched In Circle Dies.  The card base is masked and sponged with Distress Oxide. Oh, so's the grass! I kept the flowers white so that the reds on the card would really pop out.  Not my original intention tho.  Stop by the CDD blog on Thursday, June 7, to read more about how I ended up with a red palette.

The Details:  CDD Friendship, Far Out (sentiment), Stitched In Circle Dies, Outdoor Landscape 2 Dies, Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Oxides, Ranger Multi Medium Matte, Doodlebug Design Cream and Sugar 6x6 Paper Pad, Recollections Washi, Copics

Cards in Envy Cards for Boys or Men

Bring on those masculine cards for this round of the Cards in Envy Challenge!  It could be for a child or for a man or for a man-child in your life.

My card is for a friend's husband who loves him some beer. I think he likes dogs too? He better! LOL.

I sponged the card base in Distress Oxides (love this combo!) then spattered with water.  While that was drying I started coloring the dogs I had cut out with my Scan n Cut.  This is another perfect example of when that machine is a must-have.  I mounted the ME Grid Window with foam tape then added the dogs using different thicknesses of tape. This is really cool in person especially. Makes your eyes a bit wonky like the drunky pups! :)

The Details:  Mama Elephant Little Dog Agenda and Grid Window Die, Avery Elle Swim Team (sentiment), Distress Oxide Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon, Memento Tuxedo Black, Versafine Onyx Black

SOSS #111 - Y is for Yummy

Time for some yummy cards over at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! Snark is optional like buttercream icing but why would you not if you could? Mmm . . . buttercream.

I started my card by coloring the shadow of the cake and then applying Copic 0 using a paper towel which lifts the color away in an interesting pattern. Then I colored up the cake itself. The sentiment banner is part of the cake set but it wasn't long enough for my snarky sentiment, so I stamped both ends with a gap between then drew in the gap with a Copic Multiliner 0.3.

The Details:  Concord and 9th Happy Day, CZ Design Simple Sentiments 1, Copics, Copic Multiliner 0.3, Memento Tuxedo Black, mystery washi
