Gray Skies

I'm guesting over at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers where the theme for the current challenge is T for Technique.  Just showcase a technique you haven't used in a while or your favorite one and you're all good.

I'm showcasing a gelli print technique I haven't used in a good long while and mixing it up by using a rubber stamp to impress the Seattle skyline.  The background is so bold I left the image plain jane with the spot of yellow for the raincoat.  So needed here in Seattle.  The snarky sentiment, unfortunately, is so true too.  LOL.

I hope you'll play along at the Sisterhood. Who doesn't love some snark?

We're on day 5 of the CDD January release which means you'll be able to grab everything you've seen this week at 3pm EST! Woo hoo!

I used the Get Well set to decorate a tissue box to give to a sick friend but then I got sick and had to use them myself. Poor us!  At least I get to look at cute things as I try to breathe. It will be so good to hear again too!

CDD January Release Day 1

Um, can we say cute? How about ultra cute? I love the upcoming Craftin Desert Divas Sweetest Birthday, Party Border dies and Party Time stencil! I paired these the Outdoor Landscape 2 Dies to create an outdoor party theme. So flipping adorable!

I realized the Party Border die created the perfect mask for the front of a tent or banner so sponged that in Distress Oxides before placing one of the borders on top. You know I'm going to eventually create a circus card using this same idea, right?  Or a stage? The possibilities!

The Sakura Quickie Glue Roller Pen was very helpful in adhering the thin portions of the die down. I've had it a couple of months now and have experienced no drying or other annoying issues I've had with other glue pens. Woo hoo!

Clay Ornament Experiment

Damn you, Pinterest! Make me curious about using my cardmaking supplies with clay, why don't you! LOL.  I've never worked with Fimo clay before but thoroughly enjoyed the change of pace. I will need to create a dedicated, cat-free workzone for future projects. Getting cat hair out of Fimo is daunting and, honestly, gross.

Both ornament shapes were created using cookie cutters.  I used the border die to create the scallop design on the stocking (as an outline, used an Exacto to finish). I used my pokey tool to create the dots; this is the same tool I use to get paper out of dies.  For the second ornament, I used the 3D Sizzix snow folder to impress the snowflake pattern.  Boom, done.

You know what I love about my Scan n Cut? Beyond hardly ever having to fussy cut anymore? Stamping out a BUNCH of images then cutting them for future use! Feel like using fairies? Why, here's some ready to be colored! I'm pairing the fairies with a new die from Simon Says. I love that too!

CDD January Mood Board 1

My card for you today was inspired by the current Craftin Desert Divas Social Media Mood Board Challenge (tag #cddchallenge) to play along! I was really drawn to the trees and deer and snow and colors and, well, just everything about the mood board--love it!

I cut out the Shake It Up Dies snow globe from Authentique paper to create a backdrop for my little critters.  Can you see how I added snowflakes using a Uni-Ball Impact Bold Point Gel Pen? I love that it ties in with the silver snowy background.  I colored up Craftin Desert Divas Timber image but didn't bother coloring the mushrooms since those would be covered up with the snow bank I created using a Garden Border Die. I stamped the sentiment from Sending Sentiments, gently curving it to correspond to the base, using Memento Pistachio so it had a lovely soft tone. Dreamy sigh.
