CDD January Release Day 1

Um, can we say cute? How about ultra cute? I love the upcoming Craftin Desert Divas Sweetest Birthday, Party Border dies and Party Time stencil! I paired these the Outdoor Landscape 2 Dies to create an outdoor party theme. So flipping adorable!

I realized the Party Border die created the perfect mask for the front of a tent or banner so sponged that in Distress Oxides before placing one of the borders on top. You know I'm going to eventually create a circus card using this same idea, right?  Or a stage? The possibilities!

The Sakura Quickie Glue Roller Pen was very helpful in adhering the thin portions of the die down. I've had it a couple of months now and have experienced no drying or other annoying issues I've had with other glue pens. Woo hoo!

Clay Ornament Experiment

Damn you, Pinterest! Make me curious about using my cardmaking supplies with clay, why don't you! LOL.  I've never worked with Fimo clay before but thoroughly enjoyed the change of pace. I will need to create a dedicated, cat-free workzone for future projects. Getting cat hair out of Fimo is daunting and, honestly, gross.

Both ornament shapes were created using cookie cutters.  I used the border die to create the scallop design on the stocking (as an outline, used an Exacto to finish). I used my pokey tool to create the dots; this is the same tool I use to get paper out of dies.  For the second ornament, I used the 3D Sizzix snow folder to impress the snowflake pattern.  Boom, done.

Purple Fairies

You know what I love about my Scan n Cut? Beyond hardly ever having to fussy cut anymore? Stamping out a BUNCH of images then cutting them for future use! Feel like using fairies? Why, here's some ready to be colored! I'm pairing the fairies with a new die from Simon Says. I love that too!

CDD January Mood Board 1

My card for you today was inspired by the current Craftin Desert Divas Social Media Mood Board Challenge (tag #cddchallenge) to play along! I was really drawn to the trees and deer and snow and colors and, well, just everything about the mood board--love it!

I cut out the Shake It Up Dies snow globe from Authentique paper to create a backdrop for my little critters.  Can you see how I added snowflakes using a Uni-Ball Impact Bold Point Gel Pen? I love that it ties in with the silver snowy background.  I colored up Craftin Desert Divas Timber image but didn't bother coloring the mushrooms since those would be covered up with the snow bank I created using a Garden Border Die. I stamped the sentiment from Sending Sentiments, gently curving it to correspond to the base, using Memento Pistachio so it had a lovely soft tone. Dreamy sigh.

Cards in Envy Winter Chills

Cards in Envy Challenge time! Ready to show us your winter chills? Brr!

I did no-line coloring for my card as an experiment with browns. It was a challenge using such dark colors for fur. A really good image for no-line coloring: not a lot of detail. Plus soooooo cute!

The Details:  Lawn Fawn Beary Happy Holidays, Copics, Distress Antique Linen and Tumbled Glass, Memento Love Letter and Bahama Breeze, Copic Multiliner 3.0

Holiday Thank Yous

I made some simple thank you cards to express my gratitude for those who shared Christmas cheer this year. Love that scripty font!

I'm entering this in CASology #280 Kindness

Winter Cloches

I am just now getting around to putting away the bits that made up these so that hopefully I will remember I have a few leftovers and can make a couple for 2018. Let's not bet on that tho!

  • The blue on the second cloches was achieved by dripping Copic pale blue Various Ink on the back half of the dome.
  • The interior is hot-glued to a base of thick white cardstock before being hot-glued in place in the cloche.
  • The snow was added to the dome, upside down, then the base was added so there's no snow spillage.  Use the hot-glue to seal the top to the bottom of the cloche or else it will eventually open (ask me how I know).
  • You can place a ribbon or strip of paper etc around the rim of the pedestal for further deco.  I intend to . . . once I find the perfect whatever it might be.

The Details:  The cloches and the the tree die on the one in the back are from PTI.  The white deer is Tim Holtz. The trees and brown deer are ones I got from Michaels. The Seattle skyline is Savvy. The snow is from Hobby Lobby???
