CDD April Mood Board 2

I'm over on the Craftin Desert Divas blog today sharing a stencil technique.  In this case I've used two stencils--one sponged with ink, the other overlaid on top in clear paste. Check it out for more details!

Also, You have a few days left to participate in the CDD Moodboard Challenge.  I was inspired by the sunny yellows in the lower left and the stripes on the cupcake liners in the upper right. Plus, the whole board is sweet as honey!  You can join the event and post there to play along or you can tag #cddmonthly. I hope to see you there!

SOSS #108 - X is for Xyloid

Did you have to look up "xyloid?" I sure as heck did. I'll save you the trouble:

"resembling wood : having the qualities or nature of wood"

Oh. That's simple. Who knew, right? So bring on your xyloid for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #108! I promise I won't peek . . . much.

For my card I masked the base then used Distress Oxides to create a gradation.  The spatters, especially in the trees, reminds me of dappled leaves.  Next I diecut the trees and sponged them lightly with Vintage Photo. I think it just looks dirty in the pic but better in real life. I left some of the diecut in place and taped it on the back so it wouldn't fall out later before stamping the sentiment. Oh, the girl was masked too as I did the background. It did take some fiddling to figure out where to place her relative to the trees to get the most creep. LOL

CDD April Release Recap 3

Actually, maybe the CDD April Twinkle, Twinkle set is my favorite of the bunch. So hard to choose!  Here I've done a Brushos background for the planet and used the silver mirror board circle leftover from this card for the moon as well as a sprinkling of the leftover stars. Talk about stretching my dies!

CDD April Release Recap 2

Go on, girl!  Shake that hair!  I love the stars and confetti flying from the CDD April High Heels girl's hair dryer. So so cute! I've used gold embossing paste on the stencil but found it impossible to take a picture that showcases the gold. Trust me. It's lovely and ever so blingy!

CDD April Release Recap

Another inspiration card for you for the CDD April release. Look for Stars is my favorite stamp set this round.  How about you?

I first sponged the Cloudy Sky Stencil using Distress Oxides then layered the town and tree layers for visual depth. I love it when the moon is so full it's like you're standing on it so I kept that in mind. That little napping bear is sooooooo cute. The whole card is soothing to me and makes me ready for my own nap!

Naughty or Nice #50 - Anything Goes Reminder

My nice card for the very last Naughty or Nice Challenge #50 Anything Goes. Help us celebrate a great run by joining along!

This one is really simply done with a diecut that I colored with Copics on top of that fab embossed background.  I love how distressed it is (duh, Tim Holtz). The hummingbird is also colored with Copics.  I embossed the sentiment white on black for some oomph and balance to the card. My partners says this is a card he would pick at a card shop--yes, he is old. LOL

CDD April Release Day 5

We're on the last day of the CDD April release which is sad but also great because the products are available today in the shop.  Woo hoo! Here I've done something a bit different by leaving the cutie from High Heels uncolored so that she really pops against that bold background. I inked her up in VersaFine Onyx Black to make the lines a really bold black. The sentiment is the new Hello Beautiful Dies stacked to create a shadow.  I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the sentiment as well as to the dots on the flowers for some shiny interest.

I'm Crushing Your Head

I couldn't resist creating a snarky card using my new MFT Rain or Shine set along with some classics.  Any Kids in the Hall fans out there?  "I'm crushing your head!"  LOL. My current plan is to use this as a graduation card at the end of the summer when one of our students will be graduating.

This is a better example of how I created the cloud background with the base layer of a blue Distress Oxide then using the cloud stencil with more Oxide blues. I love the effect. I used the Spring Scene Builder dies because they're scaled smaller than the girl so she looks Gullivarian compared to the trees and road. That poor little Lilliputian.  LOL

While I'm at it, don't forget about the current Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #107 Umbrella challenge.  As always, snark is optional!

I'm entering this in Time Out #107 Spring without One Layer Twist, Addicted to Stamps and More #287 Make Your Mark, Watercooler Wednesday #165 All About Occasions

CDD April Release Day 3

We're mid-way through the CDD April Release and I'm loving every minute of it!  Remember how I talked about the versatility of the Star and Moon die the other day? This time I cut out the entire die so the cute bunny could swing from it. O. M. G. So cute!  The background uses the new Cloudy Sky stencil and Distress Oxide.  I love the combo of pink and gray, even using gray for the sentiment.

I just realized this totally works for the CDD April Mood Board Challenge too!  Join our Gallery or tag #cddmonthly to play along!

Brighter Days

Took a moment to play with my new goodies today!

To create the clouds I first masked the card base then brushed on a base layer of Distress Oxide Salty Ocean. Then I stenciled the clouds by using Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans before spattering with a touch of water.  Once that was dry, I stenciled the sun rays.

I wanted lots of yellow so decided to paper-piece the umbrella with a fun dotty paper; I did create some shading with Copics on it. Next I colored up rest of the image along with a couple of adorable ducks. Soooo cute! I added a diecut strip of grass but left it white for simplicity.

I'm entering this in MFT Sketch #379, Inkspirational 158 Rain, Addicted to Stamps and More #286 Anything Goes

The Details:  MFT Rain or Shine, Puddle Jumper, Mini Cloud Stencil, and Radiating Rays, Distress Oxides, Doodlebug Springtime 6x6 Paper, Copics, Lawn Fawn Grassy Border die

SOSS #107 - U is for Umbrella

Time for the new the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #107 - Umbrella! Again, your card doesn't have to be snarky but it must feature an umbrella which is perfect for this time of year up in these parts. Actually it's pretty much needed year-round in the PNW!

I have been wanting to use this umbrella stencil for ages and the sentiment for even longer. I brushed various Distress Oxides to create a rainbow then spattered it with water.  While that was drying I colored up the Brutus Monroe Be Unique Bunny which I adore. The cut the ME cloud then stamped the R and Co sentiment before trimming it down to suit. A few more raindrop sequin sprinkles and done!

Sudsational Twofer

I've made two cards using new stuffs--woo hoo!  I love these bubble bunnies (bubble butt, bubble but, something something something--LOL).  Each features a sponged Distress Oxide background, easily one of my favorite ways to create a focal point, and a frame. I flipped the PPP frame die for each and played around with bunny placement.  The second card is my favorite. Soooo cute!

With Sympathy

I've had a need for sympathy cards at the office recently and had run out so worked up this one last night when a coworkers grandmother passed away, expectedly but not.

I CASEd myself. I'm glad I had that post to refer back to.  Getting the sun and sky to my satisfaction took some reminders about soft sponging.

I'm entering this in Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes, The Male Room #82 Watercolors

Cards in Envy Get Negative!

Another Cards in Envy Challenge for you--let's get negative!  That is, use the negative space created by a diecut.  For my card I used a circle die to create an aperture behind the basket for a shaker. Super easy and fun! I love that the shaker circle complements the circles found in the flowers. My sense of symmetry is complete.  Ohmmmmmmm.
